Natal Spa race calls on all mountain bikers

On a cold and windy weekend, it’s still fun to be out on mountain bikes, especially when the races are in interesting places like last weekend’s ‘Memel to Kranskop and back’ mountain bike route. Well done to Ernest Franzen for taking third place on the podium on a tough 55km race with a 1000m climb.

Hannes van Staden was just behind him, and they were followed closely by Everette Haywood and Jabulani Xulu. Well done to all the Vryheid male cyclists. Sandra Haywood also took part and came second in the ladies’ race. Well done to Sandra as well.

Hanno Carsten also managed a third place on the podium in the 25km cycle event. Vryheid’s mountain bikers are training hard and honing their single track skills in preparation for the Natal Spa Gooderson 42km mountain biking event, which will be held on Sunday, July 3.
