Jannie and Uppies claim golfing victory –
The pairing of Jannie Esterhuizen and Uppies Upton took first place at the Northern Natal Ladies’ Hockey golf day on Saturday (June 18). The competition took place at the Newcastle Golf Club.
Jannie and Uppies amassed a combined 45 points to earn a narrow victory. Second place went to the father-son team of Boland and Ebert Koorts, on 44 points after a count-out.
The count-out sent Ronnie Jv Rensburg and Jean Other to third overall, and Robbie Niemann and Greg Seager to fourth place. Shaun Pillay and Chris Khanyile rounded off the top five on 43 points.
The competition followed the ‘better ball’ format, where the better of a team’s points is counted on each hole.
