Weekend of arrests in Ladysmith

The police operations were targeting the root causes of crime

During the course of last weekend, no less than 40 people aged between 26 and 34 were arrested by police in the Ladysmith area.

The suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from murder to assault, illegal possession of narcotics, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, malicious injury to property, public drunkenness, selling liquor without a licence, shoplifting, intimidation, being in possession of dangerous weapons, and pointing a firearm.

Drugs, dangerous weapons, diesel and liquor were seized by police.

Most of the suspects will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.
