SANBS to celebrate World Blood Donor Month

During this important month for SANBS, donors are urged to give the 'gift of life'.

SANBS to celebrate World Blood Donor Month –

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is urging residents to donate blood this month, as June is World Blood Donor Month.

SANBS Donor Relations Officer, Shavani Sewpaul said that Ladysmith and Newcastle branches were the only branches in KwaZulu-Natal to have exceeded targets in both April and May.

We would love to replicate this success during World Donor Month too. Please help us achieve this goal and save countless lives as a result,” she said.

With this in mind, the Newcastle Donor Centre (at the Newcastle Mall) will operate at the following times:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – 09:00 to 17:00
  • Tuesdays – 09:00 to 18:00
  • Saturdays – 09:00 to 15:00
  • Sundays and public holidays – 09:00 to 14:00

SANBS will be hosting special promotions on the following dates:

  • June 14 – World Blood Donor Day
  • June 16 – Youth Day
  • June 19 – Father’s Day

All donors will receive a token of our appreciation when donating blood,” said Sewpaul.

Sewpaul added that residents should also keep an eye out for the SANBS Winter Promotion, which commences on June 14! A number of mobile clinics will also be hosted this month at the following venues:
