Nofta Mother’s Day function

May 14 – Nofta will celebrate Mother’s Day in style, with glitz, glamour and dazzle. In an event not to be missed, look forward to a sumptuous three-course meal and entertainment from local band, The Trio and Nikki – music will include 80s, ballroom and bangra. The event takes place at the Nofta Service Centre on 7B Nightingale Street. Purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment: adults pay R100, children under 12 pay R50 and Nofta members enter for free. Tickets are available from Nofta officials or the organisation’s office. Newcastle Lions to host wine auction

May 20 – The Newcastle Lions Club will present ‘A Wine Auction’, at 18:00 for 18:30 at The Pines. Tickets cost R200 each – this price includes live entertainment and a light meal. JIARAT presents A Grand Mahfil E Naat

May 20 – Jamia Imam Ahmad Raza Trust (JIARAT) presents: A Grand Mahfil E Naat with Hafiz Dr Nisar Ahmed Marfani Saheb. Various Ulama will be present and niyaz will be served. The event will take place at the Musjid Ghareeb Nawaz on 49 Boundary Road, Lennoxton from 19:15, right after Esha Salah. Please note that separate accommodation will be provided for the women. Drakensberg Boys Choir charity concert

May 28 – Local choirs will perform alongside the acclaimed Drakensberg Boys Choir, at 17:30 for 18:00 at the Ferrum School Hall. The program will be divided into two halves, culminating in a group rendition of the national anthem. Tickets are available at participating schools (Drakensberg Primary, Ferrum High, Huttenpark Primary, Newcastle Senior Primary and St Dominics Newcastle) at R100 to R200 depending on seat placement, and at R50 for learners in uniform.
