Potholes remain prevalent on Newcastle roads –

Disgruntled residents complained to the Newcastle Advertiser recently, requesting answers as to why the town’s roads were becoming increasingly dangerous to travel on.

The Newcastle Advertiser then took posted a poll on its social media platforms, asking locals and motorists for their feedback on where the town’s worst roads were situated.

The response was overwhelming, with angry residents coming forward and pointing out just how bad the roads in suburban areas had become.

Before you know it, a new pothole has appeared and is growing bigger with each rainfall,” commented resident, Romy-Ann Vermaas.

She described Newcastle’s roads as being ‘in a horrible state’. Vermaas said that new holes appeared in the road surface almost every day, in almost every area. She mentioned Allen and Hardwick Streets, as well as Impala Drive, as roads which have been seriously impacted by road damage.

Hopefully, the local government/municipality will begin to address the town’s deterioration.”
