The Vryheid Herald reported on the lack of maintenance at Klipfontein Dam at the beginning of April. Last week, tractors were seen at the dam, cutting the long grass. Klipfontein Dam is a tourist attraction that has been left in shambles. Back in the day, the dam was a respected venue for fishing events and water sport. With the addition of the Zulu Cultural Village, the aim was to expand the dam into a proper tourist attraction since it is well positioned on the main access road to town from Durban, Ulundi and Richards Bay. Hopefully, the cutting of the grass signals the beginning of restoring the dam / picnic spot to its former glory so that the community can once again enjoy the recreational facilities…
