Golfers tee off at Newcastle Club competition –

The familiar blaring of the siren marked the 11:00 shotgun start of the Newcastle Club Sponsored Golf Day recently (the club is situated on Bird Street in the CBD). The competition, which was hosted at the Newcastle Golf Club, followed the two-ball better ball scramble format.

While many golfers walked away with great prizes, Ashwin Harilal and Cassim Shaikjee took home the full sheep, having won first place with 52 points. In second place was Pierre Uys and Allan Amos with 49 points.

Norman Khumalo and Mandla Nkosi came third with 48 points. Paul Byrom and Gary Williams were fourth with 46 points, and Tinkie vd Heever and Spunita Morgenrood were fifth with 45 points.

Well done to the winners!
