Umzinyathi District hosts Covid Inter-Action seminar

Mrs Sineziwe Mazibuko led a presentation on the state of the Covid 19 pandemic in South Africa and the world health organisation (WHO) with 48% of South Africans being vaccinated with the 2 types of vaccines available in the world.

The Umzinyathi District Health Department Covid 19 vaccination Inter-Action Review (IAR) was held at the Moth hall on Wednesday, April 6.
Participating together with related Health Departments were SAPS, Correctional Services, Home Affairs, Funeral Parlours and community members . The conference was opened with a prayer by Bishop Thulani Xaba and followed by a welcome speech by Mrs TT Vilakazi, the CEO of Dundee Hospital.

In February 2021 all health workers and government departments were one of the first to be vaccinated. Thereafter the statistics from different age groups followed; 50-59, 65%, 35-49,54%, 18-34, 34%, and 12-17, 14%. These statistics reflected the people who have been fully vaccinated.
WHO survey shows that in 2021 872,868 new cases were reported and 4,521,465 people were fully vaccinated with 6 million deaths reported since the outbreak of the epidemic.
In February and March 2022 194 deaths were reported in KZN. 11,183,087,530 vaccines were administrated in the world and Africa has the least amount of cases worldwide.
Miss Z Madide manager of the pharmacy at Dundee Hospital gave a presentation on InterAction Preview where there are four functional areas Theme 1- What works well and why. Identify the best practice.
Theme- 2 What works less well? And why? Theme-3 what can we do to improve the Covid 19 response? Identify what can be done to strengthen the ongoing Covid vaccination Theme 4- The way forward: the best way to implement these activities moving forward.
