Newcastle Mayor promotes Easter road safety –

The Newcastle Municipality, together with various stakeholders, came together to promote road safety this morning (April 13) ahead of the Easter weekend.

Newcastle SAPS, the municipal Community Services division, the regional branch of SANTACO (the South African National Taxi Council), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Chinese business sector all formed part of the multi-disciplinary operation, which was held on Allen Street near the N11 intersection.

Newcastle Mayor, Xolani Dube and Deputy Mayor, Musa ‘Sugar’ Thwala were among the officials present. They interacted with motorists, handing out road safety pamphlets and encouraging safe, responsibly holidaying.

The aim of the operation was to educate motorists on the importance of road safety, especially now over the busy weekend ahead of us,” commented Speaker of Council, Thengi Zulu.
