Afrikaans artists rock out in Newcastle

Tickets for the event were said to have sold out in just eight days.

Afrikaans artists rock out in Newcastle –

Popular Afrikaans singers, Steve Hofmeyr, Nicholis Louw, Liezel Pieters and Riaan Benade were in town over the weekend. The star-studded lineup headlined an event at Jackson Brown on Saturday night.

The event drew in 400 excited residents, according to restaurant owner, Erna de Jager.

Tickets sold out in eight days. People are hungry for quality artists and their music,” commented de Jager after the event.

She added that when Covid-19 hit two years ago, it changed so many lives and left many industries suffering – including those of hospitality and entertainment. With lockdown restrictions easing, her plans to bring music into the foothills of the Drakensberg finally became a reality.

I wanted to bring happiness to town as music has the magic of love and joy – and that is what we need.”
