United Cricket Club crowned as Round Robin champions
It was an enthralling weekend, with highly competitive games and great entertainment
Umtshezi Cricket Association’s (UCA) Round Robin 2022 tournament took place from March 25 to 27.
As a highlight event for cricket in Estcourt, five teams took part in the tournament and played against each other to determine the log positioning for the weekend.
The team placed first goes straight to the final, while the second- and third-placed teams play a semi-final to determine the second finalist.
It was an enthralling weekend, with highly competitive games and great entertainment for all the spectators. However, rain had its say as well and resulted in one game being cancelled on the Friday night.
Once all the round robin fixtures were complete, United Cricket Club found themselves in first place and went through to the final.

Colita Cricket Club and Farhaan Hardware played the semi-final, which captured the entire grounds’ attention and went down in the history books. Colita CC batted first and managed to score 88 runs.
Farhaan Hardware initially struggled to chase down the score, facing Colita’s strong bowling attack.
However, it took one over of magic to score 22 runs and Farhaan were back in the hunt for victory. It all came down to the last over, with bowler Divek Ramdhav needing to defend seven runs to win the game for Colita.
The match amazingly ended in a draw, which led to a super over being bowled to determine the winners. Farhaan batted first and scored eight, and Colita equalled the score.
This meant that a second super over was needed, which resulted in Farhaan Hardware being victorious and seeing them through to the final against United Cricket Club In the final, United batted first and made a mammoth score of 110. Farhaan Hardware fell short after losing too many wickets early on and throughout the match.
This saw United Cricket Club being crowned the 2021/22 Round Robin champions. All the results: 50-over league winners – Aster Cricket Club. T20 league winners – United Cricket Club. Round Robin winners – United Cricket Club.
