Look out for SANBS pop-up stalls this April –

The Northern KwaZulu-Natal branch of SANBS (the South African National Blood Service) will host a variety of pop-up stalls during the month of April.

Residents are urged to ‘pop by’ these stalls and give the gift of life.

Take a look at the list below, to see where you can catch the friendly and professional SANBS staff:

  • April 2 – Theku Plaza
  • April 3 – Amajuba Mall and Boxer Superstores
  • April 5 – Qualitas
  • April 6 – Durnacol Skills and Innovation Hub
  • April 7 – Utrecht High School
  • April 8 – Theku Plaza
  • April 10 – Eyethu Junction and Pick ‘n Pay Family (Pioneer Park)
  • April 12 – Ferrum High School
  • April 17 – Pick n Pay Family (Pioneer Park)
  • April 18 – Village Walk Mall and Scott Street Mall
  • April 19 – Newcastle High School
  • April 23 – Theku Plaza
  • April 24 – Amajuba Mall and Boxer Superstores
  • April 25 – Newcastle Training Centre
  • April 26 – Village Walk
  • April 27 – Pick n Pay Family (Pioneer Park)
  • April 28, 29 and 30 – Newcastle Show Grounds

You can donate blood if:

  • You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old (for first-time donors)
  • You weigh a minimum of 50 kilograms (a minimum of 55kg for platelet donors)
  • You are in good health
  • You lead a low-risk lifestyle
  • You consider your blood safe for transfusion
  • You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood
  • You have not donated blood in the past 56 days (14 days for platelet donors)
  • Your pulse is between 50-100 regular beats per minute.

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your haemoglobin levels and blood pressure.
