Constable Ngwenya commended for nabbing rapist
The constable drove out to Bergville, where she cuffed the accused
Constable Z Ngwenya put a rapist behind bars last week.
The 55-year-old accused was found guilty of raping a young girl over the past five years in the Emmaus area of Bergville. He threatened to kill the victim’s mother and sister if she spoke out. Her ordeal started shortly after she turned eight years old in 2017…
He would call the young girl to his house, where he would sexually assault her. His reign of terror ended on the day she broke her silence.
The rapist was arrested by Constable Ngwenya from the Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. The constable left what she was doing and drove out to Bergville, where she cuffed the suspect. She made sure that she opposed his bail application and conducted a thorough investigation.
