Estcourt siblings shed their tresses for CanSA

This was not their first experience with cancer and the siblings wanted to learn more about the disease after seeing a girl without hair

When cancer hit close to home, Jessica (9) and Abby Blaker (7) showed the customary curiosity of growing children and asked their parents more about this dreaded disease.

The sisters lost their great grandfather to cancer last year.

This was not their first experience with cancer and the siblings wanted to learn more about the disease after seeing a girl without hair.

“We showed them what chemotherapy does and we also explained to them that they make wigs out of donated human hair for cancer patients,” said mom Natasha.

The girls did not hesitate in wanting to help and asked if they could donate their long tresses to be used in wigs.

Jessica and Abby recently snipped off their long locks, which will be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CanSA).

The girls love their shorter hairstyles and so does Mom.

“There are no knots and it’s quick and easy to do in the mornings,” said Natasha.
