DUNDEE KZN: Excitement reigns at the prospect of winning ‘big’

The race for the Value City 'Angler of the Year' is led by Amith Pullen of Itec Freespool on 39 points.

It was business as usual in the third round of the NFWAA Devland Impuphu League held at Sanford Islands, Chelmsford Dam. Title contenders Itec Freespool out-fished Docrats by 92 points to 49, while current league champions Ladysmith showed their class by beating Chelmsford 61-32. Riverside suffered their third successive league defeat, this time at the hands of Endumeni. The heaviest carp was caught by an ecstatic Vish Govinder of Ladysmith, while Gary Hendricks of Itec Freespool reeled in the heaviest barbel weighing 5.746kg. Zaid Sayed of Endumeni was lucky enough to catch two weighable rare species; a kurper of 1.268kg and an eel of 0.442kg. The race for the Value City ‘Angler of the Year’ is led by Amith Pullen of Itec Freespool on 39 points. Positions two to seven are occupied by anglers from five different clubs and are separated by a mere four points. Value City gift vouchers to the value of R6000 will be shared by the top three anglers at the end of the season. The first placed angler will receive a voucher worth R3000, while second and third place will receive vouchers worth R2000 and R1000 respectively. The NFWAA executive would like to extend a big thanks to the Value City management for the extension of their generous sponsorship which has created much hype among the anglers.
