DUNDEE KZN: Farmer appears in court again for teenager’s death

Simpson appeared in court on Tuesday morning, with attendance being limited - the general public was not permitted to attend.

There was a heavy police presence at the Dundee Magistrate’s Court for the appearance of Glencoe farmer Garth Simpson (58), who has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Qiniso Dlamini. Simpson has also been charged with possession of unlawful firearms. Simpson was denied bail last year October following a ruling by Magistrate Mkhize, who said the defence had failed to prove exceptional circumstances, further arguing that Simpson’s health and age did not constitute exceptional circumstances. Simpson appeared in court on Tuesday morning, with attendance being limited – the general public was not permitted to attend.
