DUNDEE KZN: Muhle makes waves with news channel on YouTube

"We are looking for sponsorship in terms of data purchases, as this project is based solely online," cited an enthusiastic Muhle.

Muhle Khambule (14) is still making waves with his channel on YouTube.
Over a year down the line and Muhle’s news channel for kids, called ‘Smashing News Channel’, is still growing in stature.
The first episode was aired on YouTube in September 2020 and Muhle and his team haven’t looked back since.
“It all started during the lockdown. I wanted children my age to stay informed, as well as entertained during the lockdown.
“Initially, ‘Smashing News Channel’ was an idea to enlighten kids my age about relevant topics, but in a fun way,” explained Muhle.
With his growing YouTube subscribers, Muhle has had to add on a few programmes to his channel, such as trends, defining the undefined, mystery topics, as well as news being the main focus.
Muhle’s mother, Nonjabulo Khambule, has been by his side from day one and although at first she didn’t understand what the channel was all about, she trusted Muhle and decided to invest in his idea.
His mum explained:
“Muhle has had my support from day one and because he is so passionate and patient when it comes to his channel, I trust that he will take this project to greater heights.
“That being said, I hope we as parents can all support our children, even if we don’t understand their ideas at first.
“We should always provide a safety net for them, regardless of the outcomes.
“I am just glad that my son is smart and has maintained good grades at school.”
As a young teenager, Muhle stressed the point of knowing what you want and planning things well when you start a project.
“Have a plan in place and be patient with yourself, especially when working with a group of people to make any project a success.”
Muhle is also asking the public to support and sponsor his project so that he and his team can grow as a brand.
“We are looking for sponsorship in terms of data purchases, as this project is based solely online,” cited an enthusiastic Muhle.
