Sarel’s cultural stars shine

Congratulations boys on your wonderful effort!

English Play
Seasonal and new stars came out to shine at the Sarel Cilliers Cultural evening last Tuesday. The English Play, “Jamlodi (almost) goes to New York,” written and directed by Miss Layland, was a humorous skit greatly enjoyed by an appreciative audience.
Picanini Ngcobo (Sobahle Msane) and his sister (Sibongakonke Nhleko) do not want to plant mealies the whole holiday; the cool kids won’t play with them and things looked bleak until Picanini’s poem wins the family a trip to New York. The Ngcobo family decide that New York lacks African flavour and are astounded to find there are no cows and not a single mealie plant to be seen anywhere.
Thuthuka Dlame delivered an outstanding performance as Mummy Ngcobo, with Siyabonga Mdunge showing off some impressive ‘guns’ to chase off preying gangsters.
Sarel thanked the whole cast – you were all bright stars.

Helde met voete van klei
Dinsdagaand was Sarel Cilliers se jaarlikse Kultuuraand.
Cricket
This past weekend, Sarel Cilliers’ U/15 cricket team played against Ladysmith for a rematch fixture. Batting first, the boys managed to score 188 runs with top scores by Ayush Ramdutt (44 runs) and Willem Husselman (38 runs). Ladysmith could only manage to score 113 runs, ensuring that Sarel Cilliers’ win by 75 runs. Congratulations boys on your wonderful effort!
