Unlicensed firearms recovered by vigilant officers

The guns will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain what crimes they have been used in

Ekuvukeni police officers recently recovered two illegal firearms.

The officers were monitoring the funeral of a late taxi boss and noticed a VW Polo being driven recklessly after the funeral. The vehicle did not have any registration plates.

The car was stopped, and the driver and one occupant were searched.

A 9mm pistol was found in the possession of the driver; he did not have a licence for the firearm.

The 30-year-old suspect is currently in police custody and will appear before a magistrate. He faces a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Ekuvukeni police also confiscated a 9mm pistol that was allegedly used to commit a murder.
