1 man dead and numerous children injured in tragic crash on R103

A crash on the R103 this afternoon (November 20) sadly claimed one man’s life.

 

The accident took place between Colenso and Estcourt in the Chievely area.

 

A bakkie and a taxi collided in wet weather conditions.

 

A total of 18 people were injured in the crash, including numerous children.

 

It is believed that the children were returning to Estcourt after they had taken part in a soccer tournament in Steadville just outside Ladysmith.

Emergency services from Ladysmith and Estcourt responded to the scene, as well as RTI, police and towing services.

 

The injured were treated at the scene and then rushed to hospital for further medical attention.
