Family unharmed after D96 farm attack

The family was overpowered at around 17:10 by six men armed with handguns and knives.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with yesterday’s D96 farm attack. The incident was reported on a property along the D96 past Vulintaba.

The family was overpowered at around 17:10 by six men armed with handguns and knives, official sources said. The men demanded cash and firearms before fleeing the scene in a stolen Land Cruiser.

After the alert went out, local farmers assisted law enforcers with the blockading of roads in the area. A chase ensued where three suspects were arrested.

Two guns, a knife, a television set, watches, and cash have been recovered. Both the Land Cruiser and a ‘transport’ vehicle have also been recovered.

Three more suspects are currently on the run. Residents should contact SAPS or call 082 923 0078 if they have any information on the incident.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
