VRYHEID KZN: #BlackMonday postponed due to elections

More information will be communicated in due course

The first nationwide protest against farm murders was dubbed #BlackMonday and originated on October 30, 2017. After a plea on social media, it went viral and the protest took place across the country a week later. It is now a national organisation that has international recognition. It was planned to be held again this year on October 31, but due to elections on November 1, the organisers have decided to postpone the protest to a later date.

Normally, these protests are on foot, but due to the pandemic, this was replaced by a vehicle procession that ‘gathers’ at collection points and then moves to a final destination on a private property. Emphasis is placed on the commemoration of farm deaths, eventually forcing government to declare farm killings and attacks as a special crime.

More information will be communicated in due course.
