NEWCASTLE KZN: Rapist sentenced to life behind bars for attack on elderly woman
The victim and the suspect were living as neighbours in the Osizweni area at the time of the offence.
The family of an elderly woman can finally breathe a sigh of relief, after her rapist was sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to Natasha Ramkisson-Kara of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the sentencing relates to an incident in December 2019, where the 34-year-old suspect was said to have raped a 62-year-old woman. He was subsequently arrested.
Ramkisson-Kara further revealed that the victim and the suspect were living as neighbours in the Osizweni area at the time of the offence. She said the NPA is pleased at the outcome of the case.
