DUNDEE KZN: Scintillating action at Suzette Cup

The bowls club thanked all those who entered, as well as all the members who worked hard to make the day such a successful and enjoyable one

Fourteen trips teams took to the Dundee Bowling Club greens this past Saturday for the annual Suzette Cup.

The format of play was three games of 12 ends, with each end won scoring a point, and two points for a win. Each team also had to be skipped by a lady.

Conditions were summer-like, with the temperature soaring to 32 degrees Celsius. After a very enjoyable day out on the greens, it was Denise and her team from Newcastle who was left holding the ‘Stone’, with Alta and her team from Vryheid holding the ‘Baby Stone’.

Magriet and her team ended up third on the leader board, with Yvonne and her team from Dundee taking the second spot. The top spot went to Alice and her team from Newcastle. The bowls club thanked all those who entered, as well as all the members who worked hard to make the day such a successful and enjoyable one.

“The Suzette Cup is not only about bowls though. It’s also about raising awareness for the meningitis virus and to remember those who have succumbed to the virus,” explained co-sponsor Essie Slabbert. Essie also encouraged parents with young children to vaccinate them against the virus, as a vaccine is available.
