Ladysmith KZN: Deputy mayor introduces contractor to drill boreholes

This project is expected to create jobs for locals and will take about 2 months to be completed

uThukela Deputy Mayor NW Mchunu – accompanied by Cllr L Vilakazi, PMU Manager S Zikalala, ward councillors and a team of officials – visited the uMhlumayo areas of Emjindini, Fitty Park (Ward 29), KwaMhlungu (Ward 28) and Sgodiphola (Ward 7) yesterday morning (September 29).

The purpose of the visits was to introduce the contractor who will be responsible for drilling boreholes in order to meet the demand of sustainable water supply within these areas.

The service provider appointed is Sydwalt Construction.

Deputy Mayor Mchunu explained that uThukela is mandated to provide water and is therefore making sure that even communities in rural areas have water. This project is expected to create temporary job opportunities for locals and will take two months to complete.
