DANNHAUSER KZN: Major boost ‘in the pipeline’ to give residents running water

Residents are relieved that once it is completed, they will finally have access to running water.

The areas of Skoparen (Koppie Alleen), Ramaphosa and Hilltop are set to benefit from a multi-million rand water project.

Leadership of the Amajuba District Municipality last week launched the construction of the Skoparen Water Supply Project. The project will not only address water shortage challenges in the three areas, but will also create jobs for the locals while providing business opportunities for local contractors.

The project starts at the Dannhauser Reservoir and ends at Skoparen.

The anticipated duration of the project is 12 months and includes the construction of a 10km PVC pipeline and a 3.8 mega-litre reservoir.

The project itself is quite extensive, including the clearing of vegetation and trees along the pipeline route and at the site of the reservoir, the excavation of approximately 10km of pipeline trench, and the excavation of hard rock and boulders at the site of the reservoir, among other things.

Residents are relieved that once it is completed, they will finally have access to running water.
