The Vryheid Luremasters annual general meeting (AGM) was held on August 7. 2020/2021 was an overall good season, with a couple of new ‘personal bests’ caught.

Congratulations to all trophy winners; it is well-deserved.

The committee for the 2021/2022 season is as follows: chairman – John Cannon; vice-chairman – Brian Stoltz; treasurer – Ina vRv Oudtshoorn; secretary – Michelle Cannon; weighmaster – Pieter Bester; club captain – Johan; booking officer – Gareth Macfarlane; additional committee members – Niel Fourie and Christo vRv Oudtshoorn.

The first league for the new season was held on Saturday, August 21, at a private club dam. The morning started off cold, windy and a bit rainy, but turned out to be a pleasant day. A total of 16 anglers fished during the league, and mostly ‘smallies’ were caught.

Henk Fourie started off the new season with a ‘bang’ and won the league with a really nice bass weighing 2.92kg. What a beautiful fish! Congratulations, Henk, and well done – it really was a nice catch!

Congratulations also to Tiens Cilliers, weighing in the first 3kg bass caught for the new season. What a whopper of a fish weighing in at 3.97kg. Congratulations and well done, Tiens!

All the fish were released safely.

The next league outing will be on September 4, also at a private club dam.

May this be a year filled with lots of big catches and plenty of fun. Thank you to all our members.

Tight lines!
