Ladysmith KZN: Celebrating Women’s Day by donating to local school

Lusitania Youth Development donated 146 pairs of shoes to the learners

On Monday, August 9, the non-profit organisation called Lusitania Youth Development visited Lusitania Primary School on Women’s Day to show some love for the children.

They donated 146 pairs of shoes to learners at the school. The aim of the initiative was for local youth to do something positive within the community they live in.

Lusitania Youth Development secretary Nonkululeko Simelane said they decided to go to Lusitania Primary School because ‘this is the school we also went to’. “We asked the principal to allow us to come on Monday, which was the holiday, because we didn’t want to disturb teaching and learning,” said Simelane.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mr Hadebe said they are very grateful for what the local youth have done. “We wish them well in their future endeavours, as they have shown that they care about their community.”
