Volksrust High School has Mr Jan Ferreira, while Gotham has Batman, Metropolis has Superman, and New York City has Spiderman.
Learner, Marika Rossouw said Volkies’ super principal’s birthday was anything but ordinary.
“It was his 60th birthday and it was celebrated in true Volkies style, as is fitting for such an extraordinary principal on his special day… Donderdagaand, 5 Augustus 2021, het die pret al begin toe die onderskeie VLR-groepe, saam met Mnr Ferreira, bymekaar gekom het.”
Elke groep het ‘n entoesiastiese onnie-groepleier gehad en ook ‘n opwindende tema. Daar was verskeie speletjies voorberei wat gesorg het vir behoorlike pret en kompetisie.
Hierdie speletjies het almal gegaan oor hoe goed hierdie groepe hul hoof ken. Natuurlik kan daar net een algehele wenneer wees en die Uitvoerende Komitee het weggestap met die wenprys.
“Die vuur het geknetter en die geselsies het gerol – net soos ons kampentoesias-hoof daarvan hou.”
Volksrust High School staff gathered early Friday morning to surprise their principal with breakfast.
“Through careful planning and whispering, this group of teachers and staff managed to surprise Mr Ferreira with a different type of staff meeting before school.”
Mr Ferreira was praised for his serenity and devotion to God. He was also lauded for his compassionate and skilled leadership. As school representatives said ‘he truly is a principal for all, not just one’.
“Mnr Ferreira, Volkies en gemeenskap waardeer u leierskap en wens u ‘n gelukkige 60ste verjaarsdag toe. Mag die jare wat volg net nog beter wees as dié wat reeds was. Dit is ons hart se gebed dat die Here u op Sy hande sal dra en u seën vir u omgee, getrouheid en integriteit,” het Rossouw gesê.
