According to current Home administrator Roline Vaughan, who was in court, the prosecutor needed to “sort out papers” and therefore the matter was postponed to August 27.

In 2019, auditors uncovered irregular expenditure at Shepstone Place Home for the Aged, which triggered a full-scale investigation.

It was during this investigation that suspicion that Mrs Potgieter was using funds for personal gain began to grow.
After a decade at the Home, Mrs Potgieter resigned in 2019 and was charged with fraud. Civil and criminal cases were filed against her.

An amount of R500,000 has been paid to the Home after the civil case concluded.
