VRYHEID KZN: Inkululeko receives an unexpected blessing

I am so emotionally overwhelmed and I cannot thank God and the Gift of the Givers enough for this blessing,”

Like many other non-profit organisations, Inkululeko Children’s Home has also had to bear the brunt of the pandemic.

They were unable to do any fund-raising due to Covid-19 and this has left them at their wits’ end. The Home takes care of 21 children between ‘newborn’ and five years old, of which their youngest is only three months old.

Miriam Leveridge took over the reins from Maria Timm in November last year. The home is part of Freedom Life Church, which is led by Mark and Shammel Naicker.

On Friday morning, Miriam was surprised by a huge truck from Gift of the Givers. The truck was loaded with boxes of chocolates, 94 bags of mealie meal, 86 boxes of peanut spread, face masks, tracksuits and gloves, to name but a few of the items. Furthermore, they received loads of cleaning products such as Sunlight Liquid, StaSoft, Domestos and Handy Andy.

Miriam says this could not have come at a better time, since they were in dire straits. “God is good; He provided when we needed it most. I am so emotionally overwhelmed and I cannot thank God and the Gift of the Givers enough for this blessing,” she said tearfully. “I don’t know how they knew or how they chose us, but we are so grateful,” she continued.

Hlengiwe Nkwanyana (communications officer from Gift of the Givers – KwaZulu-Natal) said they normally look at different areas and determine which NPOs are in that area; that is how they discovered Inkululeko. Miriam says she promotes the Home on Facebook as much as possible, and that might be how they noticed Inkululeko and its needs.
