NEWCASTLE KZN: Another clean audit outcome for La Gratitude
Despite a loss of approximately R489 000, the organisation is proud to have met its financial obligations.
Despite the challenges of a global pandemic and the national lockdown, La Gratitude received a clean audit report for the period ended March 31 this year.
At its Annual General Meeting yesterday (June 22), the organisation revealed the continued effects of Covid-19 on its finances and reflected on what it took to survive 15 months amid a worldwide crisis.
Although La Gratitude recorded a loss of approximately R489 000 in the past financial year, CEO Jomari Batista expressed pride at the organisation being able to meet its financial obligations, pay its dedicated staff and maintain service of the same high standard.
“Challenges to meet monthly obligations are growing and income is depleting, lack of access to the most basic of PPE being a mission in its own right, but it is not all doom and gloom. We have passed 15 months and we are still here!”
Batista explained how the mounting pressure caused by the pandemic had caused a change in mindset and approach, stating that the organisation could not continue as normal when nothing about this current time was normal.
However, she believes that with every challenge comes a solution and necessitated stepping back, re-evaluating, regrouping and relooking at how to manage La Gratitude more efficiently and more cost effectively.
“How we choose to continue to manage this organisation can either break us or make us – we choose the latter!”
