VRYHEID KZN: 10 out of 12 stolen cattle recovered by task team

Stolen livestock were recovered by the Zululand Stock Theft Task Team on Tuesday (May 25). The task team officers swooped on the Zwathi area, following up on information about 12 cattle stolen from Mr Pieter van Niekerk’s farm at Lenjane Gluckstadt. This information led the policemen to Mawane Game Reserve, where they recovered seven Bonsmara cattle and one calf, unguarded. The Stock Theft officers then began searching through the bushes inside the game reserve and discovered a well-built, fenced kraal. A Bonsmara cow and a calf were locked inside the kraal. Mr van Niekerk positively identified all 10 cattle as belonging to him.
Two calves are still outstanding, but the owner of the cattle is very pleased with the quick response by the officers.
