Police achieved success after a multi-disciplinary operation held in Loskop (Amangwe) and Estcourt resulted in three people being arrested as well as three firearms and several rounds of ammunition being recovered.

On the afternoon of May 20, one person was arrested while boarding a taxi at the Estcourt Taxi Rank.

“A 38-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of a revolver with six rounds of ammunition. He was charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. All the three suspects are appearing before the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court today (May 21),” commented police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala.

Police officers from various units were part an operation in Loskop held after midnight on May 21 and their first stop was in Tatane where the team was following up on information.

Another recovery, this time in Loskop.

“A 36-year-old suspect was found in possession of a pistol with ten rounds of ammunition. He was placed under arrest for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition,” said Captain Gwala.

The officers then proceeded to Slimangamehlo where a search was conducted at an identified homestead. A rifle and five rounds of ammunition for a pistol were found. A 37-year-old person was arrested.
