Ladysmith KZN: Child’s body recovered after drowning in Bergville
Residents and distraught family members gathered at the scene
The body of the four-year-old child who drowned yesterday (May 20) in a canal in the Rookdale area of Bergville has been recovered.

The search for the child’s body resumed this morning (May 21). Members of Ladysmith K9 Search & Rescue, PMB Search & Rescue, Okhahlamba Emergency Services and police combed the waters.
The team of divers searched the canal where the child went missing, and the tiny body was found by one of the rescuers.
Scenes of grief played out at the water’s edge as residents and distraught family members gathered at the scene and watched as the child’s body was brought out.
