ESTCOURT KZN: Pothole patching progresses slowly due to foul weather

When asked if there is a plan for pothole patching and road repairs in the residential areas in Estcourt, Mr Mkhize did not provide any specific areas or dates

While there may not be enough tangible evidence, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality has assured residents that pothole patching and road repairs are progressing, albeit slowly due to inclement weather.

A response to questions from the Estcourt News concerning the deteriorating state of the roads was answered by the municipal manager Patrick Mkhize last Tuesday.

“Construction works proceeded progressively, with slow progress due to rain days. Patching of potholes was done in Keate and Harding streets as well as in Bank Road (18.34 m2), Alexandra and Phillip streets and the Wembezi Police Station,” commented Mr Mkhize.

He said that the municipality’s crews had also made headway with road re-gravelling, which is the rehabilitation of gravel roads.

“Re-gravelling consists of road shaping and renewal of gravel material. Re-graveling done in Wards 15, 18 and 21. The amount of re-gravel adds to the sum of 5.25km for the month of March. Re-graveling done in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. The amount of re-gravel adds to the sum of 3.5km for the month of February,” added Mr Mkhize.

When asked if there is a plan for pothole patching and road repairs in the residential areas in Estcourt, Mr Mkhize did not provide any specific areas or dates.
