NEWCASTLE KZN: Fallen biker identified as Micheal Henning

The father of one was killed last night after colliding with a bakkie on Allen Street.

The motorcyclist who was killed in a collision last night has been identified as resident, Micheal Henning (33).

According to his sister, Nadia Farouk Aziz, the father of one was left at the side of the road after driving into the back of a bakkie, which was alleged to be driving with its lights off at low speed on Allen Street.

“Micheal died on impact so at least he did not suffer…” said Nadia, who added her brother’s death has left her with a void she will never be able to fill. “We were so close. We lost our mom a few years ago and this past week, Micheal told me he misses her more than ever. He has one daughter, who is his entire world and both of them shared a love for biking.”

Nadia said despite the tragedy, she took comfort in the fact that her beloved sibling passed away doing what he loved.

“Micheal was a ‘prospect’ for a year before he received his Full Patch Colours in December, from the Crusaders Motorcycle Club’s Bellator Chapter. He took biking very seriously and saved money to attend rallies.”

Nadia added that after receiving the phone call last night and rushing to the scene, where she sat with Micheal’s body, members of his chapter were there to help.

While Nadia said she feels she has lost a part of herself, she is adamant about bringing justice to the driver of the bakkie, who allegedly fled the scene after Micheal’s collision with the vehicle.

“I’m going to miss him so much… I want to offer a reward of R2 000 to the person who finds the driver and brings them to the police. It won’t bring Micheal back but we can then get justice for him.”
