NEWCASTLE KZN: Hike helps kick-start a local tourism revival

Print and radio media were invited to learn more about efforts to restart the local tourism sector.

What is the common thread between print and radio media, the mayors of both Newcastle and the Amajuba District, and hiking?

All three of these elements were key to the launch of an ‘aggressive campaign’ by Tourism KwaZulu-Natal, held at the Vulintaba Country Hotel on Friday.

Aiming to rebuild the local tourism sector, Tourism KZN officials invited various media houses to a day of exploration, including a hike through the nearby mountains, breakfast and a test of golfing skill.

Amajuba District Mayor, Dr Musa Ngubane and Mayor of Newcastle, Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba revealed more about the local tourism sector, efforts to revitalise the sector and a sneak peek at possible investments.
