Ladysmith KZN: Filling his role as deputy principal at LHS

Mr Gwala started his teaching career back in January 2002

Mr Bongani Gwala is the new deputy principal at Ladysmith High School (LHS).

Mr Gwala started his teaching career back in January 2002, and currently teaches Maths and Natural Sciences.

Speaking to him, he says he is excited to take up his position at the school, but he knows it will be very challenging due to the great reputation LHS has, with their 99.4% matric pass rate last year.

“It’s not a privilege but an honour to be part of this great school, and I want to congratulate all stakeholders who participated in such academic wonders at LHS,” said Mr Gwala.

Mr Hugh Clark, principal at LHS, commented that the school, in turn, is also excited to welcome Mr Gwala to the team ‘and join us in the pursuit of academic excellence’.

Mr Gwala was deputy principal at Mqamathi High School in Msinga from 2014 until 2021, before stepping into his role at LHS from March this year.

Mr Gwala thanks the entire staff at LHS, led by Mr Clark, for the warm welcome he has received.

“I don’t feel at home; I am at home and I’m ready to hit the road running. I trust that I will learn a lot at LHS as the deputy principal.”
