VRYHEID KZN: GCIS holds vaccine awareness campaign in eMondlo

We urge people to continue social distancing, wear their masks in public places, and regularly wash or sanitize their hands."

Government Communication & Information System (GCIS) members from Durban held an awareness campaign regarding Covid-19 vaccines in the Section A area of Mondlo on Monday. The GCIS provides strategic communication leadership and support.

The GCIS commented that the ‘activation’ they had on Monday was aimed at creating awareness about Covid-19. They said it was to encourage the residents of Mondlo to keep practicing the non-pharmaceutical methods of protecting themselves and their beloved ones against Covid-19. “We urge people to continue social distancing, wear their masks in public places, and regularly wash or sanitize their hands.”

Mr Sithole, who is a resident in Mondlo and part of the taxi association, shared his views on the Covid-19 vaccine: “The government has promised that we will get the vaccine, and many of us are patiently waiting to be vaccinated. Maybe it will help prevent us from contracting the virus, but what scares us the most is that there are rumours saying there is a fake vaccine in certain places. Now we are uncertain whether we will get the correct vaccine, but overall we would like to be vaccinated, since no one wants to get sick and die.”

Makhosi Zulu, also a resident of Mondlo, said: “I will accept the vaccine because I want to be protected from this deadly virus that has killed our families and loved ones. I believe we should all accept it and be saved from Covid-19.”
