NEWCASTLE KZN: Mid-week police operation nets two arrests

Two drug dealers are now behind bars, thanks to the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit.

During a two-day intelligence operation this week, focusing on drug related crimes in the Dannhauser and Osizweni policing areas, officials clamped down on suspects.

“On Wednesday morning, police proceeded to a homestead at Clere Farm in Dannhauser, where they arrested one suspect for dealing in dagga,” said Lizzy Arumugam of Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications.

Police confiscated a total of 22 plastic bags containing 0.069 kilograms of dry lose dagga. A second bag was also recovered containing 0.063 kg of dagga.

“Members then went to the Inverness Area in Osizweni on Thursday, where they attained another successful drug-related arrest.”

Arumugam said the suspect was arrested after police found 24 parcels containing 0.058 kg of dry lose dagga.

The confiscated dagga was valued at approximately R2 000.   Both suspects, aged 18 and 23, have since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on charges of dealing in dagga.
