Ladysmith KZN: Elderly man found dead after suspected home invasion
Ladysmith Search & Rescue officers found the man's body in the house
A well-known elderly man was found dead in his home in Triangle Street this morning (February 8), possibly the victim of a vicious home invasion.
The man was last seen on Saturday afternoon.
One of his friends contacted the police, as they were worried about his whereabouts and safety, not having heard from him for some time.
Ladysmith Search & Rescue officers went to the man’s house, only to find that he was dead inside the home.
It is believed that the man was brutally assaulted during a home invasion / robbery, as the house was in a state of chaos and a few items were missing.
It is not known when the incident took place, but it is believed to have occurred between Saturday afternoon and this morning (February 8).
Neighbours gathered outside the man’s home while police conducted their investigation.
