NEWCASTLE KZN: Dannhauser Municipality apologises for delays in service delivery

With the national lockdown at Level 3, municipal management advised staff to undergo Covid-19 testing.

While most of Dannhauser Municipality’s departments were meant to open last Monday (January 4), the recent escalation of the national lockdown to Level 3 delayed this process.

According to a press statement, the announcement by President, Cyril Ramaphosa prompted management of the municipality to advise all staff members to undergo Covid-19 testing before returning to work.

Dannhauser Municipality has since apologised for the inconvenience caused ‘due to certain services not being rendered effectively’ since the start of 2021.

Director of Corporate Services, Sharda Narothum said the decision to have staff tested was taken to comply with safety regulations and was intended to safeguard the lives of both staff and the community.

“There are some departments that have been affected by this thus causing delays to services rendered. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said Narothum.

She added that residents would be updated on any developments in this regard, including more details on how the offices will operate during this period. The municipality further appeals to residents to adhere to Covid-19 regulations to help stop the spread of the virus.

“It is all in our hands.”
