NEWCASTLE KZN: Blood drive camp amps up pints
Approximately 20 pints of blood was collected for SANBS.
In a collaborative effort to address critical blood shortages and offer health services to the public, the Ramakrishna Centre and CANSA hosted a blood camp and wellness day at the Suryaville Trading Stalls on December 13.
According to Mona Maharaj from CANSA, the camp was incredibly successful.
“We managed to do 27 PSA tests and more than 60 tests for sugar and cholesterol,” confirmed Maharaj, who added that to support the Newcastle SANBS in its call for blood owing to critical shortages, 20 pints were collected on the day.
“All Covid-19 rules and regulations were followed. Each person who arrived for testing or to donate blood was given a sandwich, water and juice. We would like to sincerely thank all supporters, donors, the community and the helpers and nurses for their assistance. After all, hands that serve are holier than lips that pray,” she concluded.
