VRYHEID KZN: 1 dead in attempted ATM robbery: Paulpietersburg
The guards returned fire and fatally wounded 1 suspect
This morning (November 14), five men opened fire on two security guards while they were loading the ATM at a local bank.
The guards returned fire and fatally wounded one suspect. One of the security guards sustained a bullet wound to his shoulder and was rushed to eDumbe CHC clinic.
According to the security guards, it is alleged that some of the other suspects were also wounded during the shoot-out.
Police stations in the area were sensitized to alert their hospitals and clinics if they received patients with bullet wounds, seeking medical attention. Cases of attempted robbery, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition were opened. No cash was taken.
