Ladysmith KZN: Province hosts KFC Mini-Cricket

This programme brings youngsters from across our diverse country together and contributes to the social cohesion of our nation

Last week Wednesday (October 28), KFC Mini-Cricket hosted a virtual tournament in which primary schools from Ladysmith took part.

The schools were: Mancanakazana, Sidingulwazi, Amabhomane, Limit Hill, Emalahleni, KwaMthanti Primary, Mbulwane Primary, Isiqophamithi and Nikela.

Primary schools from Bergville and Estcourt also participated in the programme.

KFC Mini-Cricket introduces children to the game and continues to be one of South Africa’s biggest grassroots programmes. It forms a critical foundation step in the development of South Africa’s future, as the programme is one of the most impactful and significant development initiatives in the nurturing of young talent.

It brings youngsters from across our diverse country together and contributes to the social cohesion of our nation. KFC has been a sponsor of the KFC Mini- Cricket programme since 2010, as it forms cricketing heroes and is the first step in Cricket South Africa’s pipeline to the Proteas.

Since KFC started sponsoring KFC Mini-Cricket in 2010, the programme has grown from 89,000 children to over 126,642.

There are currently 13,673 volunteer coaches, which is an increase from the previous season’s 11,707.
