Ladysmith KZN: Your blood is precious, so donate as 2020 draws to a close
Plasma is one of the blood components used for chronically ill patients in hospital and it can be donated every 14 days
Simangaliso Ncala recently visited the Ladysmith Blood Donor Clinic at San Marco Centre to make his second donation of source plasma blood. This was his fifth donation overall for the year 2020.
“Plasma is one of the blood components used for chronically ill patients in hospital and it can be donated every 14 days,” said clinic supervisor Zikhona Lupondo.

Simangaliso was joined by two ‘whole blood’ donors, Christopher and John Fobian, who were also both donating for the fifth time this year. Christopher has donated 68 times and John 11.
Between them, these three socially conscious guys have been responsible for no less than 15 donations. One donation can save up to three lives, so they have potentially saved 45 people’s lives in the year that will be known for Covid-19.
