ESTCOURT: Woman (55) bound and robbed in her home

They bound her hands and put duct tape over her mouth

A 55-year-old woman was the victim of an armed robbery that took place in Oliver Cooke Avenue on the evening of September 18.

The woman was alone at home watching television when three men barged into the house.

According to police, the men gained entry through a door the woman had left unlocked for her son, who was on his way home.

The trio of robbers, one carrying a firearm, demanded cash from the woman. They bound her hands and put duct tape over her mouth.

Two cellular phones and the woman’s purse were taken before the suspects fled.

Police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi says that Estcourt police are investigating a case of house robbery.
