Vryheid KZN: Ladies ‘pay it forward’ by walking on sunshine

Lorraine van der Nest and Cathy de Beer from Vryheid Athletic Club competed in Ballito and Vryheid, respectively

Most events have become virtual challenges because of Covid-19, and the SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge is no different.
The event is specifically based on the strength of South African women and concentrates on bringing the sunshine back into women’s lives and bringing communities together.
This event has been hosted for many years and this year’s theme is #BeSunshine, focusing on walking in unity, with dignity and with a purpose… and of course, walking on sunshine.
By sharing your own sunshine, you are paying it forward and in return will also receive sunshine of your own.
Approximately 30,000 runners took part in their different neighbourhoods in this charitable event. On September 26 from 6am until 6pm, athletes could complete the challenge (subject to government lockdown regulations). Lorraine van der Nest and Cathy de Beer from Vryheid Athletic Club competed in Ballito and Vryheid, respectively.
